Dear Friends, Colleagues, Former Running mates and all Alums:

There was never a time that Jimmy gave me an assignment that I failed. While Jimmy never showed a lack of patience, he really was a guy who expected each of us to get it done, right then and right now! In every instance over the life of our relationship, I managed to do just that.

Weeks after Jimmy?s passing, I saw an opportunity to do something special for Jimmy?s Family and found a way to amend a Bill to name that portion of SW 23rd Street, in front of James G. Pressley Stadium and 4211 SW 23rd Street, between SW 2nd Avenue and Fraternity Row/Drive as ?Coach Jimmy Carnes Boulevard.? While we were certain we had it all accomplished, as the legislative session came to an end in 2011, the Bill Legislation went away. I would not allow that to happen a second time, and as many of you are aware, CS/HB 7039, was signed by the Governor, at approximately 5:00 pm on Friday, April 6th, 2012. The only thing left to do now is a proper ceremony and the hanging of the appropriate signage. Our sponsors were Representative Keith Perry and Senator Steve Oelrich.
